
Dr. Zheng Anguang

Dr. Zheng Anguang is Professor and Director of the Institute of International Studies at Nanjing University. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor at the Johns Hopkins University-Nanjing University Center for American Studies and is a Standing Council Member of the China National Association for International Studies. Dr. Zheng’s research interests primarily focus on Sino-US relations, international relations in the Asia-Pacific region, global governance, with particular expertise in maritime strategy and security issues in the Indian Ocean region. His scholarship has notably contributed to understanding geopolitical dynamics, maritime security cooperation, and strategic competition in the Indo-Pacific, especially focusing on the Indian Ocean maritime strategy and China's engagement in South Asian maritime affairs. He has published three monographs and numerous scholarly articles in prestigious journals, including China International Studies, American Studies, Contemporary International Relations, International Political Studies, and World History. His research on maritime strategy in the Indian Ocean is particularly recognized in academic and policy circles. Dr. Zheng's extensive international academic experience includes his tenure as a Freeman Fellow at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2012–2013), and as a visiting scholar at the Korea Foundation for Advanced Studies (2007–2008), and Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (2015). Notably, in 2009, he conducted intensive field research in Orissa, India, as a Sasakawa Fellow, focusing on regional maritime security and strategic interactions in the Indian Ocean, deepening his insights into maritime geopolitics and India's maritime policies.
