From November 9 to 15, 2025, the Organisation for Research on China and Asia (ORCA) conducted a week-long engagement at FLAME University, Pune, as part of the ongoing academic and research Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions. Facilitated by Professor Divya Balan, the collaboration fostered meaningful dialogue between ORCA’s research team and FLAME’s faculty and students, focusing on collaborative learning, policy research, and emerging developments in Asian studies.

As part of the engagement series, Research Associate Ophelia Yumlembam delivered an insightful explainer talk on November 10 titled “Decoding the Myanmar Crisis: Strategic Stakes for India and China.” Her discussion unpacked the internal complexities of Myanmar’s ongoing conflict while situating it within the larger framework of regional geopolitics and strategic contestation between China and India. Drawing on ORCA’s multidisciplinary approach, the session emphasized the intersection of geopolitics, security, and geoeconomic interests in shaping regional dynamics.

The explainer session at FLAME University informed students about the challenges and complexities associated with the democratic movement in Myanmar. The session reaffirmed ORCA’s  commitment to inform and analyse important developments related to China and Asia.
