On October 29, 2025, ORCA, in collaboration with the Centre for Northeast Asian Studies at Jindal Global University, hosted a joint guest lecture featuring Mr. Rahul Karan Reddy and Mr. Ratish Mehta. The session brought together researchers and students for an insightful discussion on data-driven perspectives and political narratives in contemporary China.

Mr. Reddy presented findings from his special report, “Decoding Ten Years of Anti-Corruption Data in China,” which analyzed a decade of investigations and disciplinary actions within the Chinese political system. His lecture demonstrated how longitudinal data analysis can uncover deeper institutional patterns and contribute to evidence-based China studies.

Mr. Mehta’s talk, Chinese Democracy in Theory and Practice,” examined evolving interpretations of democracy in Chinese academic and political discourse. He explored how the Communist Party’s governance framework engages with democratic ideals, reflecting the complexities of political reform and legitimacy within China’s system of governance.

Facilitated by Dr. Sriparna Pathak and Dr. Manoj Kupani, the event drew an engaged academic audience and encouraged lively discussion on research methodologies, political narratives, and new directions in studying Chinese governance. By bridging analytical and theoretical perspectives, the lecture strengthened dialogue between policy-oriented and academic approaches to China studies within India.
